Stars-fish in your eyes at London aquarium

Tim Burton and Helena Carter at SEA LIFE London Aquarium 4

Visitors to Sea Life London Aquarium had stars – and starfish – in their eyes this week. Film director Tim Burton and actress Helena Bonham Carter were among the celebs who took their kids along to the opening of the new Ocean of Starfish display.

The area, ready just in time for the Easter school holidays, contains the Sunflower, the largest sea star in the world, and five other colourful species including the cushion star and chocolate chip.

Kids can climb through sea tunnels to come up in the middle of one display for a fantastic close-up view and discover a range of strange and fascinating starfish facts. The aquarium is bigger and better for the new season. It now has more sharks than ever in the Shark Reef Encounter display, Green Sea turtles and more than 550 different species of marine life.

For the best value ticket, book online and visit after 3pm – £10.50 for a child and £14.28 for an adult – you get in while it’s quiet and catch the penguins last feed of the day (4pm). Visit: http://www.visitsealife.com/London/buy-tickets/default/After3pmTicket/

Other stars who attended the opening included Life’s Too Short actor Warwick Davis, TV adventurer Ben Fogle (below) and EastEnders’ Jo Joyner (bottom).
